Morning Poem

The river has frozen over, but it is not very deep
It is possible to win a war without an army
They have done it before; they will do it again
And you will go on leading a life of quiet oblivion.

The road stretches on like a list of objects
Gradually fading into one another,
As if one loose thread might unravel the neighborhood.
Where will we stand when reality fades into an empty apocalypse?
