On September 5, GSU made national news as it officially opened its newly renovated science, health sciences & technology E & F wing.

New GSU College of Business & Public Administration faculty member, William Kresse, is the go-to expert when the topic is keeping us all safe in the face of online fraud. As the media responded to Russian hackers stealing billions — that’s right billions — of online user IDs and passwords, Professor Kresse gave great advice.

Governors State University’s Center for Performing Arts kicks off another exciting season that offers a live entertainment experience unlike any other in the Chicagoland area. The 2014-15 season features provocative theater; musical favorites like the Beatles, big band, and the blues; contemporary dance and family entertainment that are sure to leave a lasting impression.

The first group of students from Governors State University’s Dual Degree Program received their diplomas May 17, led by student trustee and commencement speaker Kayla Randolph-Clark, who received her bachelor’s degree in business administration – finance.

The first part of an initiative created by GSU professor Yevette Brown to address violence in the Chicagoland area will be aired this weekend. The program, "Respond to Violence: Communities in Crisis," explores the devastating impact of violence on families and neighborhoods and how they are fighting back.

Riverside HealthCare president and CEO Phil Kambic (MBA ’92) started his career as a computer programmer. After earning his graduate degree from GSU, his career has flourished. He is now only the third CEO in Riverside HealthCare’s history.

Despite the harsh winter, construction for Prairie Place is right on schedule.

The American Council on Education has given GSU president Elaine P. Maimon the 2014 Donna Shavlik Award for women’s leadership in higher education. President Maimon has been recognized as a longtime leader in strengthening higher education through inclusion and diversity. The award was presented March 8, at ACE’s 96th Annual Meeting in San Diego, during the Women’s Leadership Dinner. strengthening higher education through inclusion and diversity.

As students have returned for the spring semester, they may have noticed signs throughout campus that tell them they have to provide their immunization records.

It’s no secret that Nancy Maurer loves her job. In fact, “I cherish it,” she says. With a smile. That smile is the first thing that greets GSU students and visitors as they come through the front door and climb the steps to the Welcome Center. Nancy and her team of student workers are there for whatever the visitor or student needs.

When biology professor John Yunger and his students land in Belize, a whole new world opens up. If you grew up in Chicago or even a suburb, chances are you’ve never experienced an environment that is this diverse, both biologically and culturally.
