Is GSU right for me? Did you know...

  • GSU's primary mission is teaching.
  • Average class size is 17.
  • GSU values its multicultural community of students, faculty, and staff as they learn together throughout their lives.
  • Programs are tailored to the special needs of the mature student by holding half its classes after 4:30 p.m. and on weekends.
  • GSU is an upper division school, and has equal number of undergraduates and graduate students.
  • GSU library is one of the top 20 university libraries in Illinois.

Who are the program faculty?

The Faculty of the Communications Program are a diverse group of experienced and well-trained individuals. All have real-world as well as academic experience. They represent the specialties in all of the undergraduate and graduate sequences. Click on this link to Faculty to see contact information, classes taught and interests.

How do I get started?

1. Have you been admitted to the University?--talk to Admissions
2. When admitted you will be assigned an advisor. In the meantime call on the faculty in the program--contact the secretary to see who is available to talk with you.
3. Also, check the
program requirements, begin a study plan and start with COMS300/500 as your first class.

Check the current schedule book or look online for the current and coming academic schedule.

When are core classes offered throughout the year?

Core/required classes are offered on a fairly regular basis as are elective classes. These are indicated in your degree (BA, MA) study plan, for further information consult the schedule or speak to communication program faculty
