Conference

The central theme of the conference is the current debate concerning globalization and political institutions. The discussions will deal with the meaning of individualism and individual rights as posited by We stern modernity and associated with globalization. In addition, the discussion will include the differences and relationship between social and political institutions as well as public and private organizations; their diverse rules and practices; public in situations that claim to be embodiments of homogeneous and universal laws. These topics address various issues; including the mutual influences between social-private and political-public spheres: economic influences, distribution of political favors to ideologically acceptable social- private organizations, and even questions of state, religion, and ethnicity. On the other hand, the conference will address the theme of democracy and democratization and the ways that democratization may require specific conditions to flourish. Finally, the discussion will permit an exploration of the relationships between public institutions and mass media in the era of globalization.
